One to One has recently become involved with the Centre for Musicians of Tomorrow, which was founded in the village of Migdal in northern Israel by renowned violinist and conductor Maxim Vengerov and violinist Dr. Anna Rosnovsky in September 2006.
The Centre was established in cooperation with the local community centre, the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. This amazing Centre is a meeting point for children from the age of four, who come pre-dominantly from disadvantaged backgrounds in the neglected northern periphery of Israel.
The children take daily classes in violin, cello, piano, dance and English and perform in concerts all over Israel throughout the year. In the summer of 2008, two of the children won first prize at a major international competition in Bulgaria.
Two young "Musicians of Tomorrow" delight concert-goers at the Eilat International Music Festival One to One sponsored the participation of 11 children from the Centre for Musicians of Tomorrow at the Eilat Chamber Music Festival, which took place in February. The children stayed for one week during which they participated in master classes given by international artistes and attended the festival free of charge. A highlight of the festival was the virtuoso performance by ten-year-old Jenia Gershikov and Marik Karlinski, aged nine, who played violin in Vivaldis Four Seasons, conducted by Maestro Maxim Vengerov. It was a fantastic opportunity for these two gifted young musicians to perform in a professional setting, and they drew a rapturous response from the audience.
